COMPLETIONS

Where there is a recorder please contact them to log your completion. In addition, or if there isn't a recorder, you are invited to share your experience on the gofar facebook page to encourage and inspire other runners to have a go!

About Gofar
The original gofar site was set up and launched in 2007 by Richard Wimbush with design and content provided by Tony Wimbush.  This was transferred to wix software in 2019. The current site is now maintained directly by Tony Wimbush with technical support by Richard Wimbush where needed.
The primary purpose is to provide a single, ready source of information on the ultra-distance peak-bagging challenges which have been developed over the last four or more decades. It now offers a diverse range of long and 'short', old and recent, formal and informal routes from around the UK to attract interest from all ages and abilities.  Information has have been arranged into the three menu categories below.

Ultra-Distance Challenges - by region
Routes are often mentioned briefly in the Fellrunner magazine only to then disappear into the mists of time.  One of the noble but dubious objectives of this site is to ensure details of all such routes are preserved to inspire present and future generations!  This menu lists every  route on the website, including the UK Big 3, arranged under their respective geographical regions.  In addition there is a section on other routes including training routes and non-peak bagging routes that may be of interest to ultra-runners.
UK Big 3 Rounds
For quick reference a separate menu provides an overview of the three most popular UK rounds.  As there is little pointing duplicating the content of other websites this section, for the most part, provides links to existing websites and other sources of information.  Outline maps, route details and sub-24 hour schedules are included for downloading while there are links to lists of finishers for each round. An overview of records and achievements is also included.  These details are updated only at each year-end.
Completions &  Records
This section provides lists of completion logs and contacts, UK Big 3 statistics, FRA awards and munro records.

Health and Safety
Health Warning
To do any of the routes on this site is not normal, sensible or rational.  They will appeal most to those whose horizons stretch beyond the urban wastelands of our celebrity culture and our mindless consumerism, past the swamps of our political malaise and way beyond the arid deserts of religious or scientific fundamentalism.  For a while, at least, these routes will allow you to experience true wealth, freedom and beauty by stepping outside the narrow confines of normal living into a semi-wilderness where everything is free to anyone with a little time, effort and awareness!
Safety Warning
All the routes on this site are serious undertakings which could be life threatening; none are suitable for novices as all require proven mountain experience under all conditions.  You undertake them at your own risk and you are advised to take full mountain safety precautions at all times together with insurance to cover the risks involved.

All the routes on this site require proven mountain running experience. You undertake them entirely at your own risk. Please take full mountain safety precautions at all times.  Always ensure you carry sufficient clothing, food and equipment to cope with dramatic changes in the weather conditions!  Appropriate insurance cover is recommended.
